DAVID'S LIFE as a Lookalike...
In 2002, he had a meeting with RICKY GERVAIS at ELSTREE FILM & TV STUDIOS and he was very amused saying-
“ My God... It’s amazing... You really do look just like me “
[ earlier that day a TV producer at Elstree Studios was completely convinced he actually was Ricky and asked if he was going to write a second series of ‘the office’ ! ]
People have regularly remarked upon his likeness to him or have mistaken him for the real Ricky over many years, but since he grew a David Brent style beard in 2002 ( and became the first Ricky Gervais lookalike in the UK ) the reaction from the public has been astounding.
Ever since, he has been constantly mistaken for the real Ricky Gervais. He's spotted or it’s mentioned numerous times every day, if he is out shopping or in a cafe or restaurant, often including getting asked for autographs.
Luckily, the programme is about as close as you can get to David's own sense of humour, so it really is a genuine pleasure for him to be his lookalike.
